Terms of Service

Open Source License & Security Framework

Effective Date: January 05, 2026

1. Overview

Vedot provides open-source software and associated materials for public use, collaboration, and innovation. By accessing, using, or contributing to Vedot, you agree to comply with these Terms of Service (“Terms”). These Terms define how Vedot’s source code and related services may be used, modified, and distributed within the bounds of fair use and open-source ethics.

2. Permitted Use

You are allowed to freely use, copy, modify, and distribute Vedot’s source code, provided that all changes, enhancements, or derivative works are made available as plugins, extensions, or add-ons — not as a rebranded standalone version of the original software. Vedot encourages innovation and expansion through community-driven development while maintaining software integrity and attribution.

Vedot may be used in personal, educational, research, or professional contexts. You are welcome to integrate it with other platforms, systems, or projects, provided such integration complies with these Terms and applicable laws.

3. Restrictions

  • It is strictly prohibited to repackage, rename, or sell Vedot (or substantial parts of it) as your own proprietary product.
  • Unauthorized redistribution, piracy, or claim of exclusive ownership of Vedot’s source code is considered a violation of these Terms and may constitute a criminal offense under Swiss and international law.
  • Any modification must include attribution to the original project and clearly indicate what changes have been made.
  • No technical barriers (such as DRM) may be applied that restrict lawful use, modification, or access to the source code.
  • Vedot may not be used to create or support content that promotes discrimination, hate speech, or illegal activity.

4. Licensing and Attribution

Vedot is distributed under an open-source license (for example, the MIT License or Apache 2.0 License). Each copy or modification must retain a copy of this license and a clear reference to the original Vedot repository. Attribution should be visible and easily accessible within any derivative project or plugin.

If you wish to use Vedot under a different license or for proprietary integration, please contact the maintainers for a separate written agreement.

5. Server Location and Data Protection

Vedot’s main servers and data infrastructure are located in Switzerland. Therefore, Swiss data protection and privacy laws apply to all data handled through official Vedot services. Users outside Switzerland must ensure compliance with their own local data protection regulations as well.

6. Reporting Bugs and Responsible Conduct

Bug reports, feature suggestions, and vulnerability disclosures are always welcome. To maintain the quality and security of the project, please follow these principles when submitting a report:

  • Provide clear, reproducible steps and supporting evidence such as logs, screenshots, or test cases.
  • Maintain a respectful and constructive tone. Harassment, insults, or hostile behavior will result in exclusion from communication channels.
  • Security vulnerabilities should be disclosed privately to the maintainers (Responsible Disclosure). Publicly revealing vulnerabilities before a fix is issued is strongly discouraged.

7. Contributions

By submitting pull requests, patches, or other contributions, you grant Vedot the right to incorporate your work into the main project under the same open-source license. Contributions that violate copyright, patents, or applicable laws will be rejected.

8. Intellectual Property

The Vedot name, logo, and branding are the intellectual property of the Vedot maintainers. You may use them for fair attribution, referencing, or documentation purposes. Any commercial or promotional use of Vedot’s branding requires explicit written consent.

9. Warranty Disclaimer

Vedot is provided “as is” without any warranty of any kind, either express or implied. The maintainers make no guarantees regarding accuracy, reliability, or suitability for a particular purpose. You assume full responsibility for your use of the software.

10. Liability Limitation

Under no circumstances shall the Vedot maintainers or contributors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use, modification, or distribution of this software. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of data, revenue, or goodwill.

11. Community Guidelines

Vedot’s community operates on principles of openness, collaboration, and respect. Participants are expected to maintain professional and inclusive communication. Contributions that violate community ethics (harassment, hate speech, spam, etc.) will be removed, and repeat offenders may be banned from the project space.

12. Commercial Use

While Vedot is open-source, certain commercial uses may require acknowledgment or partnership with the Vedot team. If you plan to integrate Vedot into a for-profit product or service, you must ensure compliance with attribution and license visibility requirements.

13. Updates to These Terms

Vedot’s maintainers reserve the right to revise or update these Terms periodically. Updates will be announced through the official repository or communication channels. Continued use of Vedot after such updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by Swiss law. Any disputes shall be handled under the jurisdiction of the courts of Zürich, Switzerland, unless otherwise required by applicable international law.

15. RobOS (Open Source Architecture)

RobOS is a community-driven operating system built upon the Linux kernel. As such, it adheres to the GNU General Public License (GPL). This guarantees that the core of RobOS remains open, transparent, and freely modifiable by its users. Any modifications to the RobOS core components must remain open-source to ensure the continued freedom of the platform.

16. VAC/VDF (Anti-Cheat & Security Framework)

To maintain a fair environment and defend against automated bot attacks, RobOS utilizes the VAC/VDF (Vedot Anti-Cheat / Vedot Defense Framework). This system operates under the following security and privacy standards:

  • Proprietary Protection: While RobOS is open, the internal detection algorithms of VAC/VDF are non-open-source to prevent exploit developers from bypassing security measures.
  • Privacy-First Data Handling: The system temporarily captures IP addresses to verify human interaction and block botnets. To ensure maximum privacy, all captured IP data is automatically and permanently deleted after exactly 1 hour (60 minutes).
  • Integrity Monitoring: VAC/VDF is authorized to scan active memory and system processes for unauthorized third-party tools, macro-scripts, or memory injections that compromise software integrity.
Additional Note: If you use Vedot in mission-critical or regulated environments (e.g., healthcare, infrastructure, or financial systems), ensure that you comply with relevant legal, ethical, and technical standards. Vedot maintainers do not offer official guarantees, SLAs, or certifications unless explicitly stated in a written agreement.
